Memory maps

Memory maps are a good way of visually showing stuff you need to learn.  They are thought to be especially good for ‘visual- spatial’ learners.

Things to remember:
  • Most important things near the middle; least important things near the edge.
  • Keep the writing horizontal.
  • Use ‘fishbone’ or ‘hayfork’ structure.
  • Choose key words for the map (don’t write sentences).
  • Add images/pictures; use colours.
  • Make it memorable!  A memory map is something personal.  You can’t use someone else’s, and they can’t use yours.
